La Lucha Space

What is La Lucha Space?

A:

La Lucha Space is 501(c)(3) community nonprofit. Our mission is to create strong communities of co-producers (consumers actively engaged with the process of production) in Central Arkansas focusing on food security, economic opportunity for local producers, and cultural production. We are dedicated to supporting and promoting local food, art and a culture of collaboration and creativity.

In 2011, La Lucha Space incorporated as a non-profit organization and started serving as an umbrella for several community projects, including the Faulkner County Urban Farm Project, The Locals Food Hub, The Locals Nomadic Geek and the Farmers Market Promotion Program.

La Lucha has been involved in countless activities and events, including ArtsFest, Tinkerfest, Ecofest, a Deferred Action workshop, farm tours, local food festivals and many more. Our belief is that anyone has the capacity to make a difference, and that all it takes is a bit of planning and coordinating to make things happen. So all we do, is listen to people's ideas, give them some support and encouragement and help transform those ideas into reality.

How can I get involved?

A:

There are many ways to get involved with La Lucha Space and help us further our mission.

You can volunteer to help at one of our projects or events. You can help us spread the word, and most importantly you can show up and participate! To check out upcoming events around the community click here

Finally, a great way to support our organization is by making a donation. Every little bit helps us continue offering programs and services to our community. We strongly encourage supporters to be our super heroes and set up a monthly recurring donation. These donations help us with plan for the future and pay for staffing and overhead costs--the things that are most needed but are hardest to fund. Once you set it up you don't have to think about it and you'll automatically send your love to our organization.

What is a food hub?

A:

A food hub is an important part of the local food system. It is a piece of infrastructure that serves to connect more people to local food. Our food hub is a tiny house/giant refrigerator on wheels! It is located at 2001 Tyler St, Conway AR 72032, on the premises of Bell Urban Farm. We partner with New South Coop to distribute CSA shares--boxes of fresh local food that come every week--and wholesale orders to Conway restaurants and food trucks.
